This delightful little Victorian painting measuring 14" x 10" was badly damaged, with extensive loss of paint layer. It had to be relined in the hot vacuum table to stabilize the rest of the painting and strengthen the original canvas that was very frail. All the missing areas were filled in with gesso, a neutral base colour applied before varnishing prior to retouching
The result, a fresh look to the composition including the toy cat
The work done is 100% reversible
