This beautiful object was bought at auction.
It was severely broken and was being kept together with a combination of wires and a metal grid. It was originally gilded though not much of the original gold leaf was left.
Restoring it was a painstaking event. It had to be done by two people in order to hold it at the right angles whilst taking mouldings of sound areas in order to reproduce the missing ones.

It was gilded with 24 carat French Superior Gold Leaf and now hangs proudly on one of the owner’s walls.
