This painting and frame was bought at auction.
The frame was badly damaged as well as the painting

The painting measured 40 x 32 cm. Oil on canvas attached to a ‘strainer’ with nails. The painting was loose and with several tears and holes and darkened by atmospheric pollution.
The painting had to be relined and retouched and attached to a new stretcher.

The missing areas of the frame had to be replaced by making moulds from sound areas and replicated with composition. The new embellishment was sealed and bole was applied before gilding.

The work done is 100% reversible
